Vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina)
It is mainly caused by fungi, trichomonades and other microorganisms.
Clinical manifestations
Vaginal irritation and pain.
Increased vaginal discharge.
Foul-smelling and abnormal vaginal discharge.
Some women with vaginitis do not have symptoms.
How does it spread?
By sexual intercourse
Although men have no symptoms, they can transmit the disease.
Some common causes of vaginitis are: pregnancy, antibiotics, menstrual period or diabetes, because they can alter the vaginal environment.
If you don’t get treated
Symptoms remain.
You may infect your sexual partner(s).
Men are more susceptible to develop prostate infection and urethritis.
